Hand-plying cord on a spinning wheel
Update of July 16, 2010:

Thank you for visiting the ArtCords website. It is with sincere appreciation for the increased volume of orders that we write at this time. To maintain the level of quality, which folks have been increasingly requesting, Darin continues to personally make the cordage and cinches. Please remember that this is only true for cinches purchased directly from ArtCords as well as those our authorized dealers purchase from us. Visit our Authorized Dealers page to verify claims. Cord update:
Yarns and cords are being hand-plied for all custom cord orders and during upgrades and modifications to the newest cord equipment we have developed. Cordage production is being ramped-
up with yarns recieved in
May and June continuing to be processed into cord with the next batch scheduled for proccessing into cord
during August.

We have continued upgrading our cord machine as we ramp up production and are now installing additional equipment for plying the yarns and cords as well as back-up systems given a recent delay in processing when we had to wait on parts to bolster the original equipment. This has set us behind schedule a couple of weeks for the moment. However, the improvements and added equipment will make a world of difference by providing greater capacity and efficiency of production to get back on track as quickly as possible.

Cords requiring honey color are currently pre-sold into the August processing. Since the popularity of honey and honey with color fleck has increased so rapidly, we have decided to more than double the August production of honey. Our goal is to increase cord production to a point where standard cord colors can once again be maintained as stock items on a regular basis. In the mean-time we will continue making the standard cord colors in order of popularity/order volume to fill the largest number of orders at one time, in the most efficient way possible. To this end we encourage you to plan well in advance for your cord needs and contact us with any questions you may have.

Cinch update:
Cinches are presently being made as quickly as the cord becomes available as we continue the transition to making all of our own cordage. There will be a few cinches made of 100% mohair cord as we use up the stock-on-hand over the next couple months. Cinches and breast collars of our 96% mohair and 4% wool continue to be shipped as the cord is completed. Please allow several weeks for completion of cinches as we continue to transition our shop to accomodate the growing number of orders.

Order payment:
We are maintaining a policy of pre-payment for orders which allows us to reserve your materials in advance of an order being completed. Credit card and money orders are preferred allowing us to process your order more quickly while business or personal checks must clear the bank before the materials are set aside for scheduling. Returned checks for insuficient funds will incure a $30.00 fee.

Training/Classes with Darin:
For those of you who may be passing through, live in the region, or would like to increase your understanding of cinch making, Darin is accepting students on an individual and small group basis for professional training. Fees vary depending upon length of instruction and/or the project(s) you desire to learn. Feel free to e-mail us with detailed inquiries and we will arrange a time to speak by phone.

Shipping note:
DVD's and in-stock materials now are shipping within 9 to 15 business days and often are out the door in a couple of days. Custom supplies, such as hand-plied cords and/or hand-dyed mohair will depend on quantity and colors desired.

Please remember that we are horse owners as well as running this home-based business full-time. Our business includes development and maintaing web-sites for several clients, custom graphic arts/photography services, and wholesale/retail large format printing. Elaine regularly assists with our local horses for healing and Darin volunteers as work allows. We also provide occasional technical expertise for several local, low-power Christian radio stations.
Feel free to browse our short customer list for an idea where some of Mr. Alexander's cinches and mecates are being used.

Given the custom nature of Darin's work we provide a limited number of dealerships to retail outlets. We encourage you to review our authorized Dealers list showing those with whom we have a working relationship in an effort to maintain the high standard of Darin's quality craftsmanship. This list is updated periodically, so do let your local, quality tack dealer know if you have found them committed to such gear.

We are listed in many web directories as well as on the Made in the USA search engine:
